Indeed, as its name suggests, the Metamorphic Wardrobe offers so much more than meets the eye. Its cantilevered exterior shell can be opened in multiple formations in the name of privacy or spatial organisation. Once unfolded, its core is exposed: a hard working wardrobe unit with a half-height hanging rail and 10 timber drawers of varying heights. The wardrobe unit could just as easily be replaced with a compact home office contained within the same delicate panelled exterior. It's an exterior too that is constructed from fragrant cedar wood (ideal for deterring clothing moths from wardrobe invasions) and canvas that can be customised and changed to the colour or pattern of its purchaser's preference.
More enchantingly still, the wardrobe's design has been conceived so that it is lightweight, can easily be deconstructed, and then flat packed for easy transportation.
Its sheer versatility and practicality is enough to recommend it to spaces, large or small – rentals, live/work spaces, studio apartments – any space really that requires a temporary or semi-permanent alteration in its zoning or domains of privacy. A more permanent intervention to serve these aims, such as a wall or sliding door, is not always possible, or indeed, the best solution, particularly if natural light must be shared between spaces. It's hard to imagine also how any wall or sliding door could be half as beautiful and pleasing as this shape-shifting and show-stopping piece of furniture.
