What are the fundamentals of a home in your view?
For us, a home should reflect individual style and comfort – something that goes beyond functional choices. It’s about creating a space that feels right and that welcomes you in. Each piece plays a role in making a house feel like a home.
When you started your interior design studio FURNISHD., was designing and making your own products always part of the plan?
We never thought we’d start making our own products, but over time we noticed that many of our clients were looking for the same thing: beautiful, high-quality design without the eye-watering price tag. We’ve been designing custom pieces for our studio clients for some time now, but we wanted to explore creative ways of making beautifully designed pieces more accessible by blending style, quality, and affordability.
We’re now curating these designs in collections like Just Chill Rug, so that it’s not just our studio clients who get to enjoy them, but anyone looking for understated elegance at a reasonable price. With the rising cost of living, we think making great design accessible is more important than ever.
What was the inspiration behind your debut collection and its curious name?
The collection was inspired by our clients and consistent demand for understated elegance. Just Chill Rug is really about keeping things cool and effortless, where each rug feels high-end, yet relaxed – something you’d be proud to have in your home, but without the stress of overspending.
What’s your advice to anyone choosing a rug?
First, start with how you want the room to feel. Do you want to create an atmosphere that is calm and cosy or vibrant and bright? Next, think about the role you’d like the rug to play – to create balance and unite elements of the room? Or, to be a bold focal point? Finally, go with your gut. Your personal flair will come through with your rug choice, making the room 'you' and adding a personal feel to your home: trust your instincts!
