Loader Monteith is an architecture practice based in Scotland, known for working on challenging conservation, residential, and commercial projects. Founded by Matt Loader and Iain Monteith, the studio’s work is characterised by a thoughtful and sustainable approach to design.
Since establishing in 2016, Loader Monteith has quickly gained recognition for their ability to design and deliver projects within challenging site, and of historical significance. Notable projects include the restoration of Peter Womersley’s modernist icon, High Sunderland, the famed Jenner’s Building in Edinburgh, and a new woodland school for young people recovering from early years trauma.
Loader Monteith recently won a RIAS award for their project, An Office and Two Houses, a mixed-use development on a brownfield site, as well as being shortlisted for the Andrew Doolan Prize for Architecture, Scotland’s most prestigious accolade, for their work on High Sunderland.
The practice has been widely published for their site-responsive new construction and work introducing modern interventions into historic structures.
